Plan Overboard!

Yes, we know. This will never happen to you. You’re too organised for that. No need to worry about it at all. But, let’s be real: there ain’t any use in pretending – it could happen to us anyday*. You miss your boarding for your cruise. Being left behind by your cruise ship is a cruiser’s worst nightmare, but it does happen. While it can be stressful and costly, it’s usually fixable. Here’s an understandable strategy on what to do and how to prepare to avoid it.

Firstly, don’t panic, but act quickly. Every cruise ship has a local port agent at each port of call. Their contact information (phone number, and sometimes their location near the pier) is usually printed in your daily onboard newsletter or on the back of your cruise card. This is your absolute first point of contact. The port agent is often the one who will have your passport and other essential items that the ship’s crew removed from your cabin before departure. They are there to assist stranded passengers.

Find the emergency contact number for your cruise line (often on your booking documents, website, or the daily newsletter). Call them to inform them of your situation. They can communicate with the ship and help advise on the best course of action. So, relax and let the machine work for you. Want to know more?
