Pittsburgh: it’s a Hits-burgh

As we often point out here, there are so many places in the world that are perennially bubbling under. You’ve heard the name, but you don’t quite know the “brand”, as it were. We here at Matouring love to bring these hidden gem to the surface, so that you, our plugged-in readers never run out of places to go and see and do. And, given the magnanimous size of the earth, you won’t run out anytime soon.

Here’s one example: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. We once lived not too far from there, with cousins who called it home. At the time, it was a working town: smokey, a little tired, a little grimy. But the impressive hills of the city made travel either fun or tiring, depending on your level of health. And those hills led you to a huge downtown corridor and and no end to things to see and do. There are plenty of parks, lookout areas and activities to keep you busy. It’s also a home to impressive history.

Our friends on the ground have lots of recommendations about what to see and do:

Get Hip record shop…
The Strip District has a cool market area , breweries and distilleries…
Chuchworks! Church turned brewery. Very heretical. The beer tanks are on the altar!
We like Wigle distillery. They have a shop with tastings…
Warhol Museum… he’s a Pittsburgh native…
The art deco building on the pictures is Union Station: a beautiful restaurant now.
