One world is enough?

For all of us? Apparently not. For those of us who don’t hang on to the treasured companies that we like the most, this post will probably appear superfluous, spurious and unnecessary.

But, for those in the know, this kind of knowledge is a gold mine. Airline alliances (like Star Alliance, SkyTeam, and Oneworld) are a big deal to some travelers, while others couldn’t care less. The difference often comes down to travel frequency, habits, and priorities

Of course, travelers like these often accumulate significant miles and points within a single alliance. Alliance benefits, like priority boarding, lounge access, and upgrades, make frequent travel more comfortable and efficient. That can mean a lot for those who take to the skies often.

Another obvious perk is that travelers can earn and redeem miles across all airlines within an alliance, consolidating their rewards and increasing their flexibility and also enabling them to stockpile enough point to go the moon (when that option comes on the market.)

Finally, and most important, it just makes “plane” sense to get what you can from this hectic and unpredictable world. Watch the video above courtesy of the always excellent Simple Flying.
