Sweden, like most of the Nordic countries of Europe, is a marvelous place. Clean, progressive, egaliatarian, world-aware and full of smart people whom we could learn a lot from.
But one thing that the Swedes don’t do is small talk. No chit-chat. Short and sweet. Unlike most other cultures in the world where conversations can go on for hours (for better or worse.) So why is that? And why are they so nice when you meet them and get to know them? Sweden could be “a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma,” As Winston Churchill once said. There is a widespread rumor that Swedes sometimes appear to be quite reserved at first, but once they get to know who they are dealing with, they’ll be as warm and friendly as you’d wish.
One thing is for sure – if you haven’t been to Sweden, you’re missing out on one of Europe’s gems. Sweden is a developed post-industrial society with an advanced welfare state. The standard of living and life expectancy rank among the highest in the world. Sweden has a strong tradition of being an open, yet discreet country. Crystal waters, winter snow and Sweden houses the Nobel Prize committee.
Stockholm, the capital and largest city, famous for its beauty and the amazing archipelago. In addition, Stockholm offers a unique nightlife scene and it is home to some of Northern Europe’s best restaurants.
Well, what are you waiting for? Sweden is something to shout about!
