You can’t fool Mother Nature. And when she speaks, you listen. She knows when you’ve been cheeky. And she will turn a blind eye when you’re a bit naughty, as long as no-one gets hurt.
And speaking of that, here’s a place where you really could get hurt, but the humans have interviened to good effect. A shopping centre in Iceland was minding its own business, the earth just decided to split and create a huge gap in the ground. Watch your step. But, being resourceful and stoic, yet fun, Icelanders, they just plowed on and covered up the fissure. As it happened, the gap is part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where the continents of America and Europe meet.
The cracks have been covered with thick glass and are now incorporated into the flooring of the shopping center. There’s even lighting deep down for you to enjoy the abyss as you sip your brew from places like Reykjavik Roasters.
