On our not so distant trip to Cuba (go visit!) we twice came upon several sublime hotels. Your editor had not heard of the brand, but his better half knew them well: Meliá. For some readers, this might be old news, as the brand is well-known in other parts of the planet, especially places like Spain And Portugal.
For background, as mentioned, Meliá Hotels International, S.A. is a Spanish hotel chain. Sol was founded by Gabriel Escarrer Juliá in 1956 in Palma de Mallorca and Meliá and further founded by José Meliá Sinisterra. It is also known as and referred to by its former name of Sol Meliá.
What struck us was the diversity of design and presentation that the company portrayed. Even in Cuba, Meliá brought hope and aspiration to those who happened upon the properties, or even had the golden chance to sit down and enjoy a Mojito, The Daiquiri, or The Cuba Libre. The hotel’s locations are breath-taking and the delivery is always subtle and inviting.
The company has diversified recently with their new offering, Affiliated by Meliá. Treat yourself. Click here.
