This is not yet another social media click-bait post about missing or crashed airplanes, even though there has been a lot of activity surrounding terrible incidents such as that. And this is specially with the resurgence of interest in the lost Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 which disappeared – ostensibly without a trace – even though the chances of survivors must certainly be at zero at this point. It was a truly tragic incident, one that scarred aviation’s usually excellent track record. This post is of a different kind, though, even though it focuses on the winds of change with airline companies themselves. Like the winds, they come and go. Why is that though?
Here we discuss airlines that have disappeared from the skies due to financial or other more mundane reasons. Keeping an airline flying is no simple task and the ill winds can blow what once was a thriving and popular company into history.
With the loss of those airlines, not only do travelers who may have had a readily available and perhaps cost effective way of enjoying what aviation offers, but also jobs are lost to those working in the aviation industry. Have a look at some of the companies that have gone by. Have you been effected by these kinds of changes? What have you done instead? Watch the video above by the always excellent SimpleFlying.com
