How naïve we have been in the past, especially when it comes to government running wild. A little test nuclear explosion in the desert? What’s wrong with that? Believe it or not, this is no joke. in the 1960’s, the USA had a dilemma. California, in the early 1960s, America was on fire with adventure, gusto and technology. They had a problem, though. California was a growing state and needed infrastructure. But, those pesky / beautiful mountains were getting the the way. A plan was made to realign Route 66 and the railroad through California’s Bristol Mountains by blasting a path using 22 nuclear bombs. This sounds completely crazy today, but it was under serious consideration at the time. Whaaaaa????
