Lateral thinking.

With today’s robotic approach to customer service (AI, bots etc) it’s hard to know sometimes what you’re dealing with when planning travel. In most instances, you can easily identify if you’re working with a human. But, more and more, the bots are getting ever more clever. So, this video, courtesy of the ever cheerful Paul Lucas, provides a breath of fresh air when it comes to travel choices. Paul had such a choice: take an over-priced (and probably late) train from railway providers, LNER, or think of another option. So, he took matters (and math) into his own hands and crunched the numbers, only to discover that his best UK-to-Europe was to actually jump on a jet. Sounds counterintuitive, but Paul outlines the pluses and the minuses. Watch below.

We’d like to add here that, from a Mother Earth perspective, rail is usually a better option. Keep that in mind when you make your travel choices. And, when it comes to rail (just like flying,) you have many choices. Also, trains generally have a significantly lower carbon footprint than airplanes.   This makes them a more sustainable and environmentally conscious choice for travel. Give it some thought next time you go.

We will always extol the benefits of rail when we can: relaxing, eco-friendly and often with great prices. Our affiliate friends, OMIO, have terrific rail deals all around the globe. Why rush and push to make your next connection, when the train offers you a far more humane way to go. Trains also typically offer more legroom and space to move around compared to airplanes. That’s a BIG plus! Click here to book your rail.
