We’ve written enough posts about the never-ending standoff between South and North Korea. It feels so intriguing but also so pointless, as well.

And while we’re on the subject, there are avid North Korea aficionados who, while embracing a possible unification, also have a sweet spot for the “old days.”
One example is the rather surprising, and for us rail buffs, exciting Pyongyang subway system. It’s still there. It still works, and will certainly be of interest for those anoraks who want everyone to enjoy their treasure: the Pyongyang rail system . . from Germany, of all places!


FYI. Pyongyang is the capital and largest city of North Korea, where it is sometimes labeled as the “Capital of the Revolution”.
