May we have it now, Please???
Europe has always had its choice of cars: sensible sedans, sporty cars, fire-breathing Big Motor sedans, and more and more, electric cars. On the other side of the pond, that’s not always the case. Having those attributes all in one box is not usually an option, as, unfortunately, big loud unmuffled V8s and V6s are the modus operandi over here.
So, for those of us who still enjoy automobiles, but can’t deal with the aforementioned byproducts. If we want the speed, durability, eco-friendly selection, Europe is the place. One example is Renault. Decades ago, when living in the USA, we had a Renault and, to be honest, we loved it, but it had its problems. Eventually it gave up the ghost on the side of a busy motorway. But that was then, and this is now. Europe is on the ball and has been for decades. It’s been worth the wait.
So imagine our joy and thrill at finding this video, courtesy of Top Gear boffin Richard Hammond who takes the brand spanking new Renault 5 out for a spin. Only, this one is electric. And this is what all of us motorheads have been waiting for. This new one is everything that was promised and more. Maybe it will come this way, some day. It will certainly be in Europe soon enough. They know a good thing when they see it. We can’t wait to try it.
