” . . . or getting caught in the rain.” There’s nothing like sun, shine and warm, sun and more warm, especially for those whose homestead features buckets of rain, the sun going down at 14:00 in the afternoon, and – did we mention buckets of rain? Of course there’s a balance, but it often entails picking up sticks and moving somewhere else. If you’re on the left side of the North American continent, warm usually means places like Las Vegas, of course. And Vegas is the place to go. Sun, sand, drinks, debauchery and drinks. Yeah baby!
But did you know that there is a place not too far away that has almost all of the attributes of Vegas, but a wayyy slower pace, less people and the same sunny skies? It’s Reno Nevada. The city, is increasingly recognized as more than just a smaller version of Las Vegas.
It’s evolving into a destination with a distinct character, and that’s why many consider it a “hidden gem”. Recently, a You tube video appeared on our list that takes you on a tour of Reno. The video is 23 minutes long but shows some really interesting artifacts, sites and buildings that are not normally opened. They may be opening again, soon.
But many of them are actually still covered, as he has been let into buildings there (including casinos) that have been shuttered for decades. In the video, you get to walk around, slide your fingers on the dust and almost taste, as you wander, picture (or should we say pitcher) yourself downing an Atomic Cocktail. Or does a Rusty Nail whet your whistle?

So, should you head there rather than Vegas? Maybe. Reno offers a distinct experience that differs significantly from Las Vegas, making it an appealing alternative for many travelers. Why not go then?
Reno generally has a more laid-back and less frenetic vibe than Las Vegas. This can be appealing to those seeking a less intense and more relaxed vacation. In many cases, Reno offers more affordable accommodations, dining, and entertainment options compared to Las Vegas.

With all of those highlights, what are you waiting for. You’ll be the envy of your friends. Watch the video.
