Vancouver, Canada is a pretty popular place now. It consistently hovers near the top of “places to visit.” Most people think of Vancouver itself, rightly. It’s the big draw.
But there are lots of other places in the region that can tickle your traveling fancy, and one such place is waaaaaaaayy far away from Vancouver itself, but is worth a drive if you’re looking for the unsung Vancouver, and it’s called Hope. (First caveat: Hope is 153 km away from Vancouver, so keep that in mind if you’re still curious.)
So, the $50 question: why should you visit Hope? The main draws are the utter quiet, the fresh air and the almost impossibly breathtaking mountains that surround the city. Words cannot explain this, unless you see it yourself.
Another beguiling reason is that the town is small. At last count, there were only about 6000 residents there. It’s quiet, which might be just what you’re looking for. It takes over 2 hours to get there from Vancouver Via Highway 1, so take some music, and fill up your vehicle before you go.
To get a taster of what you’ll see, watch the video above. Following the slow travel ethos, so is the video. Relax.
The nature around Hope is as beautiful and pristine as you would hope for (no pun intended.)
