Here is something that you don’t see often – a country within a state within a country. Especially within the USA. But, it’s true. Dear readers, please behold The Republic of Nirivia, which resides in the middle of it all on the shores of one of the largest Great Lakes.
Not only is Nirivia its own separate republic, but it also consists of an impressive 59 different islands within Lake Superior. While the legalities are a bit complicated, one thing is certain: this unique micronation is certainly different from the countries that reside on either side of it… and it’s open to visitors.
