Good thinking.

If life leaves you with lemons, make lemonade. We humans really have the chance to make things better. A better world, a better future, better relations and better lives. All it takes is some positivity, some elbow grease and a lot of help. Oh yes, in this case, a good example of ingenuity.

As it happens, it happens in Canada, but there’s no patent on brilliant ideas. One of the dozens of small, almost forgotten towns that are scattered around the country, Tsal’alh Seton, used to have train service. Sadly, that crucial lifeline’s funding dried up. The 720, with approximately 320 members living on reserve absolutely required it. For food, for transport, but deliveries, for medicine. But to no avail. Well, as they say, when you have lemons, make lemonade. To cut a long story short, they very cleverly turned a bus into a train.

Watch the video above and see what thinking big can do. Can you think of other places like this? Maybe you’re in the same situation where you live. Let us know; we’re always curious what is happening in transport.

And if you have ideas of visiting, know that cars cannot directly reach the Tsal’alh (Seton Portage) community by road. While there is a car shuttle service, it is not a standard car route. The primary way to access Tsal’alh is via the Kaoham Shuttle, a two-car train that runs between Lillooet and Seton Portage, according to Visit Lillooet. It is a scenic trip along Seton Lake. You can also reach the area by boat, as Seton Lake is navigable.

The closest major city to Tsal’alh (Seton Portage) is Lillooet, which is located about 25 km (15.5 miles) to the east. Seton Portage is a small community situated between Seton and Anderson Lakes, and Lillooet is the closest town of any significant size in the region. Even if this trek seems un-doable, Lillooet is not far away.

Several companies and dealerships offer camper rentals and sales in Canada. CanaDream and Wicked Campers are popular options for rentals, while Woody’s RV, O’Connor RV, and Voyager RV are well-known for sales and service. Additionally, there are manufacturers like Escape Trailer, Prolite RV, and General Coach Canada that produce campers in Canada.  Another idea is to hire a car and enjoy a local hotel.
