We try to restrain ourselves when it comes to highlighting places that are always and forever in the travel limelight. It’s not that we’re precious or exclusionary, it’s more that these places tend to get the majority of the bandwidth of those who are looking to travel.
But, to completely negate what we just said, here’s another post about Venice. Even if you’ve been there already (many, many times in our case) chances are good that you might forget everything that you learned the last time when you were in that most marvelous and crowded city. But, we recently discovered a (mature) couple – one is Italian, and the other is from the USA – The authors who actually live in Venice quietly and gently explain one of Venice’s biggest sources of confusion: the Vaporettos.
They’re a great service – no doubt – and they’re lots of fun, as you never know who you’ll rub elbows with – literally – and may end up finding a new friend for life, even if you step on each other’s toes end up in a sea of fellow travelers trying to smush themselves into the same boat all at once. No-one is a fan of that. But, it’s all part of la vie, so soak it all in. Watch the video below and relax. Behold as Rick and Luna will save the day for you. It’s a very useful video. Click below. And save it. Super useful.
We stayed at the Hotel Aurora and loved it. It’s simple, but central and is just what you want in a small hotel. It’s right in front of a bus stop offering direct links to Venice, and Venezia Mestre Train Station is located 2 km away. It features air-conditioned rooms with TVs. The Aurora Hotel is right in the heart of Mestre, surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. Venice is just across the lagoon. Your room at the Aurora comes with a minibar, safe and private bathroom with hairdryer. Breakfast is served each morning and is a mix of sweet and savoury food, including fresh pastries. And the staff couldn’t be more helpful. Click here.
