. . . head out on the highway. Or not. For those of us who (have or do) drive automobiles, especially if you’ve been driving for decades, it can generally be agreed that cars are a blessing and a curse. (Take the train!) As Julian Cope once said “there’s no getting around getting around.” A wise man, he. As it stands, most modern cars are now at a stage of maturity that they’re pretty darn reliable. Even with a spacecraft’s payload of electronics, they are usually something we can rely on when we forge our way out of the house and into “the whatever.” But, as is always the way, it wasn’t always that way. For most of us seniors, cars of the past were often a crap shoot.
Not to cause any of us to shake, rattle and roll when we reflect on our first (and likely worst) motorcar, we thought that this rather old video featuring a rather less old Jeremy Clarkson would be cause for us to laugh, or, alternately, to run away a full speed to a train or a bus. Keep in mind this video is created 16 years ago.
Take it all with a grain of salt: everything was kinda crap back then. Hip Hip Hooray for today. Compare it to some of the hire cars nowadays. Try not to cry. We’re with you. Thoughts and prayers.
