Franken/stein

Did you think you would ever find a place in the US where it feels like a bit of Europe dropped from out of the sky? Believe it or not, there are a few; (Leavenworth, Washington for example) but some places put the pedal to the metal to really make you think you’ve been dropped into Bavaria as well as Frankenmuth. We’ll guess that by now, you’ll be asking where and why.

To cut a long story short, the USA is full of immigrants (as you should know) and many of them cling to the olde ways, of sorts, and as part of that, celebrate their history like there’s no tomorrow. Make no mistake, these places are bang up to date when it comes to the being in the modern world, but the olde worlde force is strong when maintaining that unique balance of then and now. And it’s a lot of fun.

Primer: Frankenmuth is a city in Michigan, known for its Bavarian-style architecture. The Frankenmuth Historical Museum highlights the area’s German roots. Michigan’s Military & Space Heroes Museum displays flight gear, Medals of Honor and military equipment. Bordered by the Cass River, Heritage Park has an event pavilion and a riverside pathway. Frankenmuth Aerial Park offers ropes courses and zip lines in a wooded area.

So many of the US Midwest towns are blessed with gorgeous Century Homes, hundreds of years old.
