People are people and, therefore, unpredictable.  Sometimes that’s fine (and fun) but when it comes to wrangling millions of us at a time, that can be . . not fun.

In the UKTransport for London is using aggregated and anonymised data from its wi-fi network to provide real-time data on how busy London Underground stations are at any point in time during the day.

TfL has, before, used ticketing statistics to comprehend travel patterns, with its estimates of slow times based mostly on statistics from its Oyster smart card and contactless ticketing system which captures station entry and exits.

Depending on your threshold of suspicion, this could be a good thing or a bad thing.
