Enter sand ban.

Is this really what we, as humans, have come to? Are we truly this self-centered or this dumb? Or has the government gone askew again? Or is it a little of both? In a recent Fromer’s article, this very topic – sand -has come up as “a thing.” The next time you’re at a beach you love, despite your human leanings, you might want to fight the urge to celebrate the place by taking some of it with you. Why, or why not? Removing sand from a beach can be detrimental to the environment, may contribute to erosion, is often illegal, and can harm both local economies and cultural values. It’s important to respect natural ecosystems and to follow local regulations to ensure that beaches remain healthy and vibrant for future generations. Would you believe that there’s a black market for sand? And, if you do take it, it can mount up to a fine of almost $4,000 USD.

So, and we thought we’d never be discussing something like this: taking sand from a beach is detrimental to the environment, can contribute to erosion, is often illegal, and can harm both local economies and cultural values. It’s important to respect natural ecosystems and follow local regulations to ensure that beaches remain healthy and vibrant for future generations. We love beaches. Read more posts about it, here.
