We love The Netherlands. From the tulip fields, to the canals, to the people themselves, the country stands out in not only the European Union, but also in the minds of those who enjoy balanced and open-minded individuals who keep the greater whole in the frame as a model of how to live. If you’ve been to Amsterdam or any of the Netherlandish cities, you’ll know what we mean. But this post skips the mother country and takes a sideways look at another side of the Dutch, and one that is almost on the other side of the planet.
As peaceful and progressive as the Netherlanders are now, they were also once captains of the seas, which not only brought them fortune and fame, but it also included conquest. We won’t focus on that touchy subject here, but we’ll discuss something mundane, and yet interesting if you, our dear readers, find the Dutch and automobiles interesting. As small as the Netherlands itself is, its fingers have stretched out far across the planet over many decades and were let’s say avid adventurers. And one result of this wanderlust was them “acquiring” a variety of new territories from east to west.
And many of them still are extant today. Which brings us to our main focus, Bonaire. Bonaire, a special municipality of the Netherlands located in the Caribbean, and is considered a top place to visit for many reasons, but in our case, we’re discussing automobiles. Why focus on cars on a small island? There are any number of reasons to do that, but our real reason is learning about which brands of automobiles are on this rather small place – and there are quite a few, many of which you may not know. Well, leave it to Ed, from Ed’s Auto Reviews to provide you will a broad, funny and opinionated discussion on this odd topic.
