Dulyn Banjos:

Ghosts of the Black Lake: If you’re old enough, throw yourself back to the enlightened 1970’s, a time where everything was changing. The women’s rights movement continued to gain momentum, with women achieving greater equality in the workplace and society. Similarly, the Civil Rights Movement made significant progress, leading to increased racial equality and social justice.  Things were looking up.

Money was flowing in many countries. Technology was producing more products, and more people were able to take that next step up the ladder. There was a sense of freedom, wisdom and knowledge. It felt good to those who wanted to lose the shackles of the previous decades and the preceding beliefs and ways of working.

But, even in those realistic and “entitled” times, there was the inevitable leap of faith from those who still lived in “the way it was before.” Old habits die hard. One such place was the land surrounding so-called The Lake of secrets: Dulyn Lake (or Llyn Dulyn) in particular. Set in rural Wales, the lake became an unsuspecting tourist attraction, when On November 11, 1944, a Douglas C-47B Dakota aircraft crashed into the cliffs above Llyn Dulyn in Snowdonia, Wales.

All four crew members were tragically killed in the accident. But some maintained that the plane never crashed and never sank into the lake. It’s still a mystery, but you can investigate, of course. if you’d like. Let us know what you find. Even if you come up empty handed, it’s gorgeous scenery.
