If there is one movie franchise that EVERYONE loves (in addition to Star Wars, of course) it’s Indiana Jones. Chances are good that – if you’re a certain age – you got your first glimpse of Morocco or Petra via those classics.
But, did you know that the films were influenced by a living human being – Charles Lummis? Lummis was part Indiana Jones (a self-taught adventurer and collector of artifacts from Latin America and the Southwest as well as from Native Americans) and part Forrest Gump (in 1884, he walked 3,500 miles from Cincinnati to L.A. to take a job at the Los Angeles Times).
