Do something different: McAllen Texas

One of our valued affiliate friends, VRBO, sent some details to a place we’d never heard of – McAllen Texas. The email featured lots of nice places to rent, so we were curious. What is McAllen Texas like? What’s there for us (and you!) to see and do? So, as you would expect, we did our homework.

It’s a pretty big city, as of 2021, it had 143,920 citizens from which 83.6% are citizens. As of 2020, 26.5% of McAllen, TX residents were born outside of the country. It features a good-sized Parks & Recreation offering, loads of restaurants (as you would expect in an American city) and, as you’ll see in the image below, access to Mexico, which presents all kinds of travel experiences. McAllen is a gateway to Mexico with two international crossings, the McAllen-Hidalgo International Bridge and the Anzalduas International Bridge. The McAllen-Hidalgo bridge connects McAllen and Hidalgo to downtown Reynosa, Mexico, and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
