True globetrotters will face hell and high water to behold and then embrace their dreams. It could take a lifetime to achieve, but it will all be worth it, especially when you name the name of the destination. Most true adventurers will carry on until the job is done. And, especially in locations of great historical significance, age or beauty, this even more the truth. And, the real truth is that many adventurers may never achieve their dreams. The goal may be too far away, too hot, too cold, too rugged, too impenetrable, if done alone.
Surely these kinds of hurdles can be overcome in this day and age. Correct, but the day and the age can either be a deterrent, or it can be a catalyst. Your editor’s lovely partner and I have been around most of the globe, have loved almost every single minute of it and still long for more. But we’re not getting any younger and that is becoming ever more evident.
We have always prided ourselves to see the world au natural, not relying on tours, or expensive, if well-meaning travel vendors. But there are days when this drive to visit everywhere that we can. We had been discussing visiting places such as Syria, Damascus and beyond. But we question if we have the chutzpah to embark on the hikes, and the bugs, and the animals and the sellers. You might be in this same predicament. So, we’ve decided to try a tour where almost everything is taken care of. And this is not lounging by the pool, this is still effort. We’ve chosen G Adventures for our first guided tour.
