Not many places in the world are as desirable and as beautiful as the Italian lakes in Lake Como, Lombardy, Italy. How many thousands of photos have been taken there, usually by dreamy-eyed lovers who sadly realize that they may never stay in that most revered location. Why? Well, primarily it’s down to the vagaries of supply and demand. That is, too many dreamers and not enough villas. Or perhaps, not enough Euros to even put one’s foot in the door, let alone sink slowly into a sumptuous bed with a sumptuous view. Sigh.
Located in northern Italy, close to the Swiss border, Lake Como has long been a favored destination for the wealthy and famous. It has attracted notable individuals such as actors, musicians, and world leaders, who have chosen to build magnificent villas along its shores. The exclusivity and prestige associated with the area make it desirable for those seeking a luxurious lifestyle.
The region is dotted with charming towns and villages that showcase beautiful architecture, including elegant villas, churches, and medieval buildings. The historical significance and preservation of the area add to its allure.
There is a wide range of recreational activities. The lake itself is perfect for boating, sailing, and water sports. Hiking trails around the lake provide opportunities for scenic walks and treks, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the surrounding natural beauty. Additionally, golf courses, spa resorts, and boutique shops provide further entertainment options.

Be smart. When in Europe, use Trainline to get around. Trains are the way to go. On the western branch of the lake, the city of Como is the only one to have train stations. Como S. Giovanni and Como Nord Lago are the two main stations: both are very close to the city center and connect Como to Milan in about one hour.
