And a happy morning to you too, you might be saying. Well, we all end up as dust and bones, so let’s look on the bright side of life and put on a happy face. “It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live, so let’s look at it that way and go away knowing that it was all worth it.”
Celebrating a “happy, expected death” can be a deeply meaningful and positive experience for many reasons, especially within certain cultural contexts or when it pertains to a long life lived fully. It’s about shifting perspective from loss and grief to celebration of life, release, and peace. That is why so many civilizations know that you can’t take it with you, so why not leave behind something happy and memorable?

If reflecting on our inevitable demise is a bit uncomfortable, watch the video above. What’s even better is that, in most cases, you can visit cemeteries even just to witness and marvel at the beauty and even pomp of what was left behind of someone’s life. It can be joyful, sorrowful or even telling. There is no end to how those of us decide to leave our last breaths. Watch the video above and rejoice that you’re still with us and that you may be extant for a very long time.

Unlike most cemeteries, Chile (where this post is based) is one of the most vibrant countries extant.

One place in Chile is Iquique, where the Dragon Dune is in the foreground and the city. Wow!
