Canada Rail, on the trail.

Much like the United States, Canada has had rail services over the decades, but, as you might expect, uptake has fallen to almost a trickle, thanks to automobiles and air travel, almost exclusively. And, that’s a shame: we here at Matouring constantly promote and applaud rail all around the world, where it is the de facto way to get from point A to point B. We use rail whenever we can, whether it’s a local service, a shuttle or a luxurious once in a lifetime splurge. We’re excited that we’ve recently joined up with Canada Rail Vacations, who offer excellent rail adventures across Canada and further afield. They have some tempting offers for you.

The most luxurious and expensive tourist train in Canada is the Rocky Mountaineer, and what a thrill it can be. People travel worldwide just to experience it. This is what rail is all about. If you have the time and the budget, you’ll never forget it. Pricing can be $1,000 per couple, or $500 per person and up.

So, we’re happy to say that there is an alternative that provides the thrills but is softer on the pocket. Welcome to Canada Rail Vacations. This is even more appealing as their typical clients are mostly retirees, so you’ll likely make life-long friends on the trip. The well-known VIA Rail is Canada’s classic rail passenger service has been operating across Canada since 1978 and it inevitably sells out. Ready to book? Click here.

Tour packages that use either ‘The Canadian’ or ‘The Ocean’ VIA Rail routes include overnight stays aboard the train. On these nostalgic trains, you’ll step into a golden past and relive Canada’s history. Cabin options onboard include private sleeper cabins for 1 and private sleeper cabins for 2 which offer the traditional nostalgic train experience. Also available on ‘The Canadian’ train is Prestige Class which offers a luxurious all-inclusive experience. You can enjoy the less expensive tour, which is still delightful. Click here.

The upscale Rocky Mountaineer train has been operating in the Canadian Rockies since 1990. There are two levels of service onboard to choose from and three unique routes within Canada.
