Can you even pronounce this?

We periodically write about Wales, in the UK.  Most tourists think of England or Scotland as destinations in the UK, but you should really also give Wales a try if you haven’t already.

Why?  Well, first of all, the countryside itself is lush and untouched.  Wales has been able to avoid some of the creeping metropolitan-isms that effect bigger cities in the UK (and, well, everywhere, really.)

The people there are genuinely friendly and kind, as sometimes tourists appearing in their village is an unusual event.  And many of the towns are much as they were at the turn of the twentieth century.  (Don’t worry – the wifi and services are excellent.

One place to start is Betws-y-Coed, or simply Betws.  It captures the essence of Wales, beautifully.

And finally, you pronounce it “bet-ose” like “meadows.
