. . . and a hard place. But you can do this. Some of us tourists get a bit of snide lip-service from the hard-core “adventure tourists” in the fact that we take a car to get from here to there to see the next exciting destination. Fair enough: we’re not all Jack LaLanne, even in our minds. But, many of us don’t shy away from a bit of a workout here or there. And this post is about one of those exercises that exercises us in any number of ways. Here, you test your stamina, your sense of heights, your steadiness and your ability to walk and gawk and snap selfies at the same time. Mother nature does it again by presenting us with one of nature’s Nordic Tracks in the sun – and how can you say no? Here we feature El Chorro: Caminito del Rey.
El Chorro: Caminito del Rey, often referred to simply as the Caminito del Rey, is a famous walkway located in the province of Málaga, Spain. The Caminito del Rey was originally constructed between 1901 and 1905 to provide workers at the hydroelectric power plants at Chorro Falls and Gaitanejo Falls with a means to transport materials and facilitate inspections. The walkway is set along the steep walls of a narrow gorge carved by the Guadalhorce River in El Chorro. It’s not for everyone.
One of our fave YouTube creators, Steve Marsh has completed this trek and, as ever, he tells you the whole story, in detail, and it’s a fascinating and historical saga. So, why don’t you enjoy an enchanting nature and historical hike along El Caminito del Rey, alongside an expert guide. See dramatic landscapes and learn about the history of the Desfiladero de Los Gaitanes Canyon. We have the complete adventure for you Click here to book your bus ride and trek.
