Airline stats: choose carefully

As we’re creating this post, it’s February of 2025. Airlines are in a crucial moment in time. An unprecedented number of airlines have seen significant failures in their services, with several even causing fatalities. It’s possible that some of these may clearly be due to previous or consistently bad service. Others may be victims of mother nature. We can’t rule out human error, as well. But it is worrying and off-putting for some.

What can you do, especially if you’re a frequent traveler? Obviously, airline reputation is a good place to start. Established airlines with a history of good service strive to maintain that reputation. However, even they can have off days. If the service is reliably spotty (if you know what we mean) then you’d be better to shy away.

Separate of poor service, you may also be curious about why there have been a spate of air crashes in 2025 and earlier. Watch the video above, courtesy of the excellent YouTube channel Mentour Pilot,

Fortunately, one of the UK’s oldest and best news sources – The Telegraph– have created a rather useful tool to Reveal the best (and worst) airlines and airports for delays and cancellations. Here, you enter your flight details into their system to find out how likely a delay or cancellation is for your journey. Click here.
