We love history, here at Matouring, especially when you can touch it. And we’re grateful to large companies when they spend the time and the money to maintain their history, even if it entails spending a rather large chunk of money. And, some companies actually take the time to do it properly, where it can appeal to all audiences, and the content and the the presentation makes you want to linger and see more, and where what you’ve seen leaves an impression.
If you come to Canada (Vancouver, specifically) you’ll notice the sheer volume of water that blesses this part of the world. (Some days, we could use a little less of it, to be honest.) But, the H2O and the trees and the blue / grey skies and the diversity of people here never gets old.
And, speaking of old, let’s get back to the subject. About 40 minutes away from downtown Vancouver is a city called Mission, and in that city is a museum devoted to its hydroelectric past. The Powerhouse at Stave Falls Visitor Centre is actually lots of fun, in that they tell you the story of this venerated, but retired utility. In addition to simply enjoying (and marveling at) the machinery that supplied the valley, there are dozens of related items from history (how about a battery-operated car from 1912?) that will keep you busy for hours. And, as you might expect, there is a relaxing lake and park attached.
