We’re probably not wrong when we say staying in the house and doing the same old routine can be soul-sucking. It’s a necessity, of course, but it can be a grind. Naturally, travel, is a great option, especially if you know where you really want to be. So, is there a middle ground, or is it the inevitable never the twain shall meet?
Us, forever hopeful, prefer think positive. Surely there must be a place in the sun. For us, it’s anywhere in Europe, most likely Spain or Portugal. We’re drawn to it.
It’s a big leap to make that kind of jump (we’ve done it), so you really need to be sure that you’ve done your homework. One way of doing that is to “step into the shoes” of some people like you and see what their experiences are like when they start to take baby steps to see what their future dream holds.
If having your own place in Europe is on your radar, one great way of getting a jump start is to watch the UK’s Place in the Sun. The premise is simple. Typically, it involves a couple who wish to make a move to Europe (and other even more remote locales.) They’ve chosen their destination, and that’s when the Place in the Sun team swoop in to show them around to find their dream home.
The series started way back in 2000 and it’s still vibrant. These are real people making real life-changing decisions. You’ll be able to identify. If you’re thinking about relocating, or even just having a long staycation, A Place in the Sun will get you thinking and dreaming. Click on the video above, this time based in Málaga, Spain. There are dozens of other episodes available. Cheers!
