We know this much is Trôo

Listening to Marvin, all night long and living in French caves was all the rage in 1964. And if that doesn’t make you want to be a cave dweller – even if you think that you know France – then what about this? Trôo is a charming village located in the Loire Valley region of France, known for its troglodyte dwellings, stunning views, and rich historical and cultural heritage. As if you even need them, here are some reasons why travelers should consider visiting Trôo: You can discover this curiosity in more detail on a guided tour that takes place on the first Sunday of each month between May and September. The village’s charm lies in its very distinctive layout: terraces on three levels, caves, paths and steps. The many flights of steps make it easy to go from one level to another.

Certainly one of the most unique features of Trôo is its troglodyte caves. These are ancient dwellings carved directly into the limestone cliffs, providing a fascinating glimpse into the region’s history. Visitors can explore these caves, some of which have been transformed into homes, guest accommodations, and even restaurants.

We’ll bet you’ve never slept in a cave before. Certainly not this luxurious, anyway. Click here.
