We have mixed feelings writing this post. On the one hand, it puts a rather spectacular place on earth in the spotlight, and one that you absolutely should see. But, ironically, it might also be be a better idea not to visit. This is another story about nature, global warming and the threat that it poses to the planet.
Here we’re highlighting the Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina. Breathtakingly beautiful – almost too beautiful to believe – and one of the most intact and stunning glaciers that still exist. The Perito Moreno Glacier is located about 80 kilometers (50 miles) from the town of El Calafate in southern Argentina. El Calafate is the main gateway for tourists visiting the glacier, and it has an international airport with connections to major cities in Argentina.
It can be a bit of a trek to get there, but there are a number activities you can enjoy when visiting the Perito Moreno Glacier. The most popular one is walking along the designated trails and viewing platforms that offer incredible panoramic views of the glacier. You can witness the massive ice formations and even see and hear chunks of ice breaking off and crashing into the water. Boat tours are also available, allowing you to get closer to the glacier and experience its grandeur from a different perspective.
