We’re sure that everyone who reads our site are confident travellers, with a list of destinations that is long as their arms – us included. And, alas, if you’re mature travellers like us, the list is probably longer than the days that we have remaining on Mother Earth. That’s not meant to sound gloomy or negative – it’s just the way it is: some things will never change.
But, let’s get to the point. Surely everyone who is reading this must be curious about the subject matter. There must be a small list of those who wouldn’t want to see Mount Kilimanjaro. When you think of “destinations” then this surely must be near the top of the list. Can you imagine the bragging rights when you tell your friends that you have conquered that most venerable of journeys?
But, accompanying that desire is the reality that the chances of making it to the top is simply not possible for some of us. And that’s OK.
But, that doesn’t mean that the trek is simply no-go. Our affiliate friends GetYourGuide have a short trip to Mount Kilimanjaro from Arusha. Spend the day hiking through Mount Kilimanjaro National Park and return to Arusha on the same day.
You’ll be picked up in Arusha at 7.30 AM and driven to the Moshi region, where you will enjoy breakfast, before proceeding to Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro, you’ll check-in at the gate and begin your walk through the Mount Kilimanjaro forest. As you hike through the forest, you will see the unique landscape and vegetation of the region. Along the way, you might even spot monkeys and a wide variety of birds. The Mount Kilimanjaro forest is home to elephants, leopards, buffalo, antelope, primates, and the endangered Abbott’s dicker, just to name a few.
Depending on your fitness level, you will walk for 3- to 4-hours before arriving at Mandara Hut for a picnic lunch.
