This post is here simply as a bit of fun, but also to show off how good technology is in our day and age. And this image is not really even that old.
A chap named Will Pearson perched himself on top of London’s Shard and created this rather magnificent 360° image of Canary Wharf in London. If you know London, you’ll know that is nothing if not layers and layers of ancient history, buildings and stories. But, you rarely get the chance to see all of this from above, rather than street level. Will’s image will initially make you gasp, but then you’ll find yourself spending probably too much time inspecting it, trying to prove to yourself how much you know about The Smoke, as it’s known.

You’ll see controls at the bottom of the image that allow you to zoom in to almost unbelievable detail, and you can zoom all the way around to see as far as Waterloo Rail Station and beyond.
And then we expect that you’ll next want to put yourself on ground level and double-check your skills at being a London expert, perhaps even fashioning yourself as a tour guide of sorts.
