Here we go again – Matouring waxing on with dreamy eyes about the world’s state-of-the-art rail systems. Today it’s – no surprise! – Japan. Like most of Asia (and Europe as well) they realise the complete 360º view of what train travel brings to exploring the earth – or even just getting to work and back.
The video here, courtesy of SoloSolo Travel features the brand new Kintetsu Railway, “Hinotori” in its incredible ordinary class train. A cheaper but more luxurious alternative to the Shinkansen. As ever, Japan shows us that rail travel simply makes sense (4,540JPY/40 $USD) but it also features an impressive array of automated services that will make you swear off your automobile for good.
The train takes just 49 minutes (and the trains are never late) versus 2 hours and 29 minutes in the car.
And, did we mention snacks and fun? Oh yes – all part of the Japanese rail experience. Watch the video and try not to drool.
