Tumbleweeds

For some of us, there was a period in time where – at least in the United States – cowboy shows and movies were all the rage. People from around the world couldn’t get enough of them. It was no coincidence that many of them were located in the US, because wide open, empty and dry spaces were a perfect location for filming. The costs were low, too. Ironically, many of these filming sets were shot in real places, rather than Hollywood sets: once again, saving money. Out of all of this, people around the globe knew Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Jose in California,  Phoenix and Tucson in ArizonaSeattle and Tacoma in Washington. In this post, we focus on Flagstaff, Arizona.

And speaking of filming, enthusiasts Joe & Nick have the car & done the rounds. Click here for the video.

Flagstaff is a city in the U.S. state of Arizona, surrounded by mountains, desert and ponderosa pine forests. It’s a gateway to the San Francisco Peaks, home to Arizona’s tallest mountain (Humphreys Peak) and the Arizona Snowbowl ski resort. Nearby, Wupatki National Monument has Native American pueblo sites, and Walnut Canyon National Monument is dotted with their cliff dwellings. Even more, it’s worth your while to visit.

Like any smart city, Flagstaff has rail. Amtrak are ready and waiting for you. OMIO have your tickets here
