This is not your parent’s Rwanda anymore. In these days of easy travel, social media and fairly decent prices, you can now get almost anywhere and can go to places you wouldn’t have dreamed even five years ago. But that’s what travel is like now. A good example of that is today’s Rwanda. The country has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past few decades, evolving from a country primarily associated with the devastating 1994 genocide to a premier travel destination, particularly in the realm of ecotourism and high-end experiences.

Under President Paul Kagame’s leadership, Rwanda has implemented ambitious development plans like “Vision 2020” and “Vision 2050,” with tourism identified as a key pillar for economic diversification and growth. The government has actively invested in tourism infrastructure, international marketing campaigns (e.g., “Visit Rwanda” partnership with Arsenal and PSG football clubs), and fostered a business-friendly environment to attract major hotel chains and tourism operators. And it’s working. Once, Rwanda was definitely no-go. But, now it’s go go go. Watch the video from the indefatigable Davud Akhundzada. Watch how he does it. The man deserves a Peace Prize.
