The King of Rail

Once upon a time, we humans got around solely on foot, or perhaps with a beast of burden to shuttle us to and fro. Slow, back-breaking and inefficient. This can’t be the way forward. Sure, waterways were excellent in many locations, but were expensive to build and maintain. There must have been a better way.

And there was. A British gentleman named Isambard Kingdom Brunel was the one who put the pieces together. He saw the flaws and, also, saw the opportunities. He reasoned “why have slow horses through muddy lanes? There must be a better way.” Finally, et voila, after much trial and error, Prince Albert took a keen interest in the project, and it was this project that led to Marc’s knighthood. His most famous achievement was his pioneering work in the design and construction of the Thames Tunnel, another masterstroke. From that point onward, rail only went forward into the future. If rail interests you, watch above to learn where it all finally got wings; Cornwall, UK. Fascinating and tangible. Read more here, if you want the full story. Thank you, sir.
