What do older gentlemen petrol heads do when it’s time to hang up the helmets and sit down with a pipe next to the fireplace? Most do just that . . . nothing really. But, some fools decide to go into business, often ones that don’t necessarily align with what once was their bread and butter (literally here.)

It’s an odd combination when your main source of earning was to flail around corners at high speed in European supercars, every week. We’re speaking here of the legendary BBC series Top Gear. Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.

Behaving like children for the most part, these chaps kept entire generations on the edge of their seats as they lived every young man’s dream. Well, they’ve all mostly calmed down and set out their shingle to pursue new opportunities. One of the “lads” – James May, has opened a rather nice restaurant and B&B to keep idle hands busy. It’s called the The Royal Oak Swallowcliffe located in leafy Wiltshire, SP3 5PA.

Chances are that James nor Richard will be there, but you’ll be there and you’re the star. Shine brightly.

You’ll want a car, and Britain has some fab selections. Booking .com have them for you. To book, click here. Missed your chance to book your room with James?
