Da da da.

Sorry to go off on a rant again, but don’t you wish that world leaders and politicians would either get it or get out? How many of them are there compared to how many we are? Who actually holds the keys? It’s us, but something always gets in the way, and it’s them.

You may remember that the USA and the Soviet Union (we’ll call them Russia for these purposes) have been playing swings and roundabouts with The Great Satan (the USA of A) for years about who is going to prevail as the leaders of the world. We don’t know about you, but we find it tiring and useless. What do their people want? It appears that the Russian people want flights again. какая неожиданность?

So imagine our surprise when we saw this (always) excellent report from Simple Flying where it appears that after all of that hubbub, Russia is asking the United States to consider restoring direct flights once more after several years of tumbleweeds. See what you think? It’s we, the people, who are most important after all.

To fill you in, if needed, the major holdups preventing Russian airlines from operating normally stem from the international sanctions imposed following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. These sanctions have created a complex web of challenges. Many Russian airlines rely on aircraft manufactured by Boeing and Airbus. Sanctions have restricted the supply of spare parts and maintenance, making it difficult to keep these aircraft airworthy. Finally, many countries have closed their airspace to Russian airlines, severely limiting their ability to operate international flights. Keep your eyes wide open if you need to be present in this part of the world.
