There’s a cold wind blowin’

We don’t know what to think anymore. As of this writing, the planet seems to be in one of the biggest maelstroms that we’ve ever seen in our crusty, creaky lives. In a matter of weeks, what once were peaceful places to be (or to visit) are now on a knife’s edge, with that knife firmly at the collective necks of we mere mortals. We could turn this post into something political, but we won’t. We don’t need to. You can witness it up close and personal on social media. It’s frightening, especially since so many people are at risk. They call it politics. We call it supposed adults throwing their toys out of the pram. They call it a rat race for a reason.

So, what can we do? One option is to just get the hell out of there and run a full speed to places where the scenery may be somewhat somber and not exactly beach weather, but at least you’ll be far away from the madding crowd. Your new best friends will be reindeer and learning a new culture. Prepare yourself to experience the great white north: snow, that is. Click here to look and book.

High on the northern coast of Norway, the city of Tromso is well-known among travelers as a place for Arctic adventures and lights in the sky. Tromso tours run the gamut of outdoor activities: Go for a cruise on a fjord, visit a reindeer farm, and (depending on the time of year) chase the northern lights with an expert guide. Be sure to book a tour that teaches about Sami culture, then get a hands-on lesson in the art of dog sledding and find out how these dogs have been trained for this specialized task for generations. This is something special. To see for yourself, courtesy of our affiliate friends, Viator. Click here to look and book.
