Train in Vain

Here’s a funny one, especially if you like puzzles. This is A Train Station in Japan where You can check in anytime you like, But you can never leave. Well, to be fair, it’s not quite that foreboding. In fact, it’s quite humorous. Japanese blogger, Tanner, has happened upon yet another example of corporate confusion.

As the text says above, this sole train station is “designed” to make it almost impossible to use it, or even get in or out of it. Luckily, Tanner made it out alive. You will too. Japan rail stations call out their names (in English, too) before you arrive. Nice! They’re always thinking, the Japanese.

Someone clearly didn’t read the project brief. Thankfully, though, Tanner has come forth as the “project manager” and supplied us with this fun and funny video. PS: if this is a consideration for you, his English is excellent, as is his way of slyly throwing in a few jokes and barbs along the way. Good fun!

A viewer, AndyAussie, wrote: I went there recently. The train will stay for about 10 mins before heading back. You can stay at the park for the next train. When you come down to the park level, the gate to exit only allows Toshiba’s staff to go, and a security staff are there. On weekends, it’s closed up. But the park is open. There is no way to come across to the Toshiba side. Public toilet and vending machine is available.
