No, this is not a political post about the state of the States of the USA : that is its own ticking timebomb. But this is about America and one of its most treasured tourist attractions: Yellowstone National Park, and some of the potential traumas that could feasibly take place there.
For those who haven’t been, Yellowstone National Park is renowned for its geothermal features, including geysers, hot springs, mud pots, and fumaroles. Old Faithful, a geyser that erupts predictably, is a major draw for visitors. The park The park boasts some genuinely breathtaking scenery, including canyons, waterfalls, mountains, and forests. It’s also the first national park in the United States, Yellowstone holds significant historical and cultural importance, and is beloved by all Americans, for sure.
But, scientists and geologists are seeing changes in the park’s makeup, and some of it is causing some concern, as Yellowstone has been solid as a rock (literally) for millions of years. You might say “well, it’s just geysers in a park in the middle of the USA – what’s the big deal?” The big deal is that “the big explosion” could cause a global catastrophe.
