Regular readers know how much we enjoy watching Yan’s (of Little Chinese Everywhere) videos. As kind and inquisitive as anyone on the planet, within a few minutes and with every encounter, she has made lifetime friends. She makes it look so easy. With a little bit of bravery and a big smile, so can you. She proves again and again that simply asking questions can get you far in life. This latest episode is a prime example, where she ventures into Vladivostok, “The Pearl Of Eastern Russia.”
We have always been inquisitive about and very keen to visit the Russian Federation, too, but given the current state of global affairs (thanks a lot, superpowers) visiting places such as Vladivostok feel like a distant dream. Would we be welcome? What would we find? How would we get there? How do we get around? If you have these kinds of queries, too, then sit down and enjoy Yan’s latest video. It’s like a breath of fresh air. As the song goes, “Come on people, now. Smile on your brother, everybody get together, try to love one another right now.” One thing is for sure, the residents of Vladivostok want to meet us all, too. Let’s all make it happen.
For background, Vladivostok is a major Pacific port city in Russia overlooking Golden Horn Bay, near the borders with China and North Korea. It’s known as a terminus of the Trans-Siberian Railway, which links the city to Moscow in a 7-day journey.

In the city center is Central Square, where a towering memorial pays tribute to local soldiers who fought Japanese forces in the early 20th century. But what matters now is that the residents live in a progressive, peaceful, truly multi-cultural world that we all can get behind. Watch Yan’s video above and start saving for your flights, hotels and adventures.
The city has a fascinating history, dating back to the 19th century. Explore its historic sites, including the Fortress of Vladivostok and the S-56 submarine. Indulge in fresh seafood, including crab, salmon, and oysters, at local markets and restaurants.
Compared to other popular tourist destinations, Vladivostok offers affordable travel options.
