Here we go again, literally and figuratively. We’ve written yet another post about rail, and we’re not ashamed. We’ve traveled over much of the planet, and the planet is crying out to us that rail is the way to go. Comfortable. Predicable, cost effective, relaxing, expansive, economical and an epiphany if you don’t use rail. Much of it, of course, is that is how the world moves. But, when it comes to moving people around, it is still lagging in some countries (most of them in North America) and, in the place of trains, those non-believers end up, bumper-to-bumper on a motorway, all the while their vehicles idling burning fuel, and getting nowhere fast. That’s just plain dumb.
So, let’s ignore North America for now and have a look at what’s going in the rest of the world. Lots, as it happens, and perhaps in places that you would least expect it. Places like Syria, Egypt, Indonesia and Zambia have excellent rail services. Forward thinking. Smart. Economical. Why does North America struggle with this?
Ok, so what if you’re not au fait with what rail has to offer. Let us enlighten you about worldwide rail options that already exist. Our affiliate friends, OMIO, have become leaders in rail travel offerings;
so much so, that they have kindly and accurately created a global index of where they offer rail. Click here to behold what the world of rail holds for you. It’s your compendium on how to choose, purchase, and use rail. Can it get any easier than this? No.
For background: Omio is a global multi-mode search engine for all major forms of transport. They compare and combine air, bus, rail and ferry journeys for routes both big and small. They work out the total travel time and cost, making it easier for you to plan and budget for your trip.
They don’t operate their own flights, ferries, trains or buses. In short, they’re an independent search platform so you can rest assured that the displayed results are always unbiased. They’re always happy to give advice on how to use their service, but please be aware that they can’t plan your journey in detail. That’s up to you (or your travel agent) but rest assured that OMIO’s site is easy to use, accurate and fast.
