We’re not trying to get hostel here. Even though we’re old and in the way, we still have some life in us. Our website is targeted at those who are of the same ilk. We have opinions that we share sometimes, but mostly, we look forward to bringing you good news when it comes to travel for us intrepid wrinklies.
We’ve never really had any major bad experiences when travelling. So, we were pretty interested in a YouTube video that offered a walk-around in a downtown London hotel that was £50 GBP, ($64 USD) ( €60per night, in a rather decent part of town. That’s the kind of deal that we are always looking for, for you and for us. So, we sat down an watched the video from the creator, Sam. As a review, it was super thorough. Sam went through literally every nook and cranny about the room. But, it seemed to go off-piste at the end.
Of course, there were the usual ho-hum warnings about the “shock horror!” that we were about to see, but that was to be expected: judging by the title of the post, you could kind of anticipate what was coming. But those kinds of social media click-bate never appeared. And neither did the name of the hotel either. Nor the location. So, we had to ask: . . we’re not sure who was going to benefit from the 14 minutes that was spent with no tangible outcome for viewers, only to come away empty-handed? You might want to give this style a re-think, Sam, with all due respect. But, at least it did get us thinking about how to approach cheap stays in London.
If you don’t mind roughing it a bit, there are some top hostels that are not bad at all, but you’ll never know who your roommates might be. As of this posting, The cheapest hotel in London for one night is St Christopher’s Inn London Bridge, priced at $53USD per night. Similarly, the Astor Victoria Hostel, priced at $55 USD per night. Again, these are not the price range that we’d been hoping for in the video, but they’re not bad and also some of them have the benefit of having brand names. But we do have a few alternatives that might meet your requirements. See below. How about the Queen Elizabeth Hostel? Click here.
