Or is it Pakistanada? The travel news purveyors have been slowly, but consistently, pushing articles online about how, recently, stewardesses from Pakistan International Airlines seem to be vanishing into thin air (no pun intended.) And, even more interestingly, it seems to be happening primarily in Canada, of all places. Do they get lost? Do they oversleep? Do they take the wrong planes? It’s a bit of a mystery.
One instance was when a flight attendant vanished during Toronto layover. There were just some cryptic clues left in the hotel room. In one example, a flight attendant’s uniform and a written note stating ‘Thank you, PIA,’ was the only clue that was found in crew member Maryam Raza’s hotel room.
According to the National Post, it’s at least the second time this year such an incident has happened, and the tenth time in the last two years. And, to make matters worse for the airline, the disappearances are something of an embarrassing trend for the airline, which has been fighting with financial and reputational diminishing returns in the past few years.
For reference, Pakistan International Airlines is an international airline which is the government-owned flag carrier of Pakistan. Its primary hub is Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, while Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore and Islamabad International Airport serve as secondary hubs.
Maybe the crews are staying in Canada for the “spectacular” (ahem) weather. No matter what, we wish them well on their onward journeys. Everyone needs a home. Read more about this trend here courtesy of Aerotime.aero
